A recent report published by Health Cluster, World Health Organization found that the humanitarian situation in Yemen in 2025 remains dire, with public health continuing to face immense challenges due to prolonged conflict and multiple compounding factors.

The report noticed that nearly a decade of war-fare has exacerbated conditions, leading to increased famine risk, widespread severe acute malnutrition, and outbreaks of diseases such as Polio, Cholera, Diphtheria, and vector-borne illnesses like Dengue fever and Malaria.

Additionally, the ongoing violence has resulted in significant casualties, forced displacement, and stunted development efforts, further deepening the crisis.

Compounding these issues are reductions in funding, particularly from the United States, which have severely limited humanitarian assistance and hindered efforts to address the escalating health needs of the population.

According to the 2025 Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan, an alarming 19.7 million people require health assistance, with a target of reaching 10.6 million this year, which is an increase of around 1 million individuals from last year.

Health Cluster Partners are actively working to support and strengthen Yemen's public health system, aiming to provide critical health services to meet the urgent needs of the population. However, a significant lack of funding in 2025 has further weakened this system.

Additionally, the economic decline, marked by soaring inflation rates of the Yemeni currency {Rial(, has exacerbated pressures on the already fragile health infrastructure.
